Thakurdeo Rampersaud: Preparing for MMA Training

Thakurdeo Rampersaud, Director of Finance with Hyatt Vacation Ownership, is a fan of sports like football, basketball, boxing and mixed martial arts (MMA). Thakurdeo Rampersaud has participated in each of these sports and, for two years, trained MMA with Danny Abbadi, known in the ring as “The Assassin.”

Training with an MMA fighter, as Thakurdeo Rampersaud did, is hard work. If you’re considering training with someone like Danny Abbadi, steps like those below will help you prepare for the road ahead:

  • Eat Well

Don’t go “on a diet” to prepare for MMA training, but do eat well. Learn to avoid junk food. Add more whole fruits, vegetables, lean meats, nuts, seeds and other unprocessed foods. Better ingredients and higher-quality nutrition sources will help your body withstand the intensity of MMA training.

  • Stretch and Move

Begin a regular stretching and exercise routine. Lead a more active life. Walk to the store when you can, park further back from anywhere you go, stretch every day and add a balanced workout to your routine four to six days per week.

MMA trainees like Thakurdeo Rampersaud often lead busy lives, using their training to relax and destress. If you feel that you’re too busy to train or to even prepare to train, that could be a sign that making time for it would be doubly beneficial for your work/life balance.
